Bendtner answered his critics after his showing against Burnley in stunning style with a devastating treble in the 5-0 victory over Porto on Tuesday night.

The Danish international made amends for an off day against Burnley with two goals in the opening 15 minutes before completing his hat-trick from the penalty spot in the closing stages.

"Every time I play a game I put it behind me as soon as it's finished," Bendtner told Sky Sports 2.

"Sometimes it's one of those days and today I put it right.

"I'm happy with my hat-trick but we move on.

"It was good to score early but I don't know if that affected my game."

Target

Bendtner has now set his sights on winning the UEFA Champions League and believes the win over Porto has given Arsene Wenger's side the confidence to go all the way in Europe's premier club competition.

"It will give us a lot of confidence," added Bendtner. "We want to win the Champions League. It's something we haven't done.

"We scored all our chances which is very positive."
