Shay Given hopes the togetherness inspired by the Wayne Bridge-John Terry furore can spur Manchester City on to claim fourth place in the Premier League.
Bridge's City team-mates have rallied around the full-back in the aftermath of the allegations surrounding John Terry and Bridge's former girlfriend.
City went on to claim an impressive 4-2 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and Given hopes the results keep coming.
He told The People: "It was a personal thing for Wayne and we were delighted for him (to claim the win).
"We all backed him up over it. We are a team, a family, and we all stick together.
"It's important to do that and if it benefits us now, then great."
Given believes the win over Chelsea has given them the belief in their push for the coveted top-flight fourth spot - and UEFA Champions League qualification next term.
He added: "We have played fewer games than some of the other sides and this is going to go to the wire.
"There are three or four other teams fighting for fourth and it's probably as tight as the title race.
"We showed what we can do against Chelsea but now we have to back it up.
"Our away form has not been good enough so that win at Stamford Bridge really gave us huge belief and confidence."
Team-mate Pablo Zabaleta is confident Roberto Mancini's side can claim fourth spot, and believes the international break and City's weekend off because they are not involved in the FA Cup can help their push.
He said: "We can get fourth - definitely. We are still confident because we have got a great team with lots of quality.
"The Chelsea result was fantastic and the break is very good for us and at the right time.
"Some of the players are away with their national teams but it is still a chance to get some rest as we know it is going to be difficult to gain fourth place.
"Teams like Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham are all good sides and it is very tight, but we are still confident we can finish the season in fourth position."
