Gus Poyet has confirmed Brighton & Hove Albion are close to sealing a loan extension for Newcastle United winger Kazenga LuaLua.
The teenager's initial spell at the Withdean Stadium is due to expire after Brighton's League One fixture against Colchester United on Monday.
Poyet has expressed a desire to hang on to LuaLua, with the player also keen to stay with the Seagulls for the remainder of the season.
And Brighton boss Poyet is optimistic that a deal may be finalised before he takes his team to the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
"We are very close to having an agreement," said Poyet in The Argus.
"Chris Hughton (Newcastle manager) agrees with us that it is important for the player to be playing."
