Phil Jagielka has been called into Everton's squad for their Europa League clash at Sporting Lisbon.

Jagielka has not played a first-team game for nearly 12 months, after he ruptured his cruciate ligament in April last year.

The England defender was due to make his competitive return in a reserve team clash with Bolton on Tuesday - but the match was postponed.

Because of his lack of action, it was believed manager David Moyes would not risk the 27-year-old in Portugal for the second-leg of their round of 32 clash at the Jose Alvalade.

But now Jagielka has been included in Moyes' 22-man squad - which also includes Swiss stopper Philippe Senderos, who has been sidelined with a back injury.

Tim Cahill, Marouane Fellaini and Tony Hibbert have not travelled because of injury, whilst Sylvain Distin is out through suspension and John Heitinga is cup-tied.
