Fiorentina defender Alessandro Gamberini has undergone shoulder surgery that could rule him out for the rest of the season.
The Italian defender damaged his shoulder during Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Sampdoria and will not return until May at the earliest.
Gamberini's absence is a blow for Fiorentina, who take on Bayern Munich in the last-16 stage of the Champions League on Wednesday and currently sit 11th in Serie A.
A statement from the club read: "Gamberini underwent surgery on his shoulder and will need two-and-a-half months to fully recover."
The 28-year-old has made 15 league appearances and played in six Champions League games for the Viola this season.
