Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has confirmed that Jordan Henderson will be out of action for six weeks.
Highly-rated midfielder Henderson damaged ankle ligaments against Wigan earlier this month.
Bruce already suggested Henderson would be out until April and now scans have confirmed that he will be out for six weeks.
"Obviously we're glad there's no serious damage, but to be without a player like Jordan for six weeks is a blow," said Bruce.
"We can now get on with the rehabilitation process. Jordan is keeping his spirits up and he is prepared to work hard while he's out."
