Doncaster have bolstered their defensive ranks with the signing of Elliott Ward from Coventry on a one-month loan deal.

Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll has seen his options decimated in recent weeks with injuries to Jason Shackell, Shelton Martis and Adam Lockwood leaving Sam Hird as the club's only fit centre-half.

Ward joined the Sky Blues in a £1million deal from West Ham in 2006 but has slipped down the pecking order under Chris Coleman.

The 25-year-old will go straight into the Rovers squad for the trip to Hillsborough on Tuesday evening to tackle Sheffield Wednesday.

Ward will hope to gain regular first-team football from the move at a time when Doncaster are very short of options.
