Nigel Clough admits he would be 'very interested' in bringing Bolton Wanderers full-back Nicky Hunt back to Derby County next season.
Hunt is currently on loan at Pride Park until the end of the current campaign and has made seven appearances for the Rams to date.
He has not featured for Bolton in almost two years, but still has a further season remaining on his contract at the Reebok Stadium.
Clough doubts whether Derby would be able to sign the 26-year-old on a permanent basis, but he is keen on another loan arrangement for next term.
"Nicky has got a year left at Bolton and his wages at the moment are a bit prohibitive," said the Rams boss.
"We are only paying a percentage of them so unless something happens at the Bolton end, we couldn't do anything.
"But if we could do a similar sort of deal to what we have now, a half-season or season-long loan in August, we would be very, very interested in doing that.
"We have seen him for a few weeks now and he has been excellent. He was not getting first-team football at Bolton and so that may work in our favour."
Hunt is also relishing the chance to play regularly, telling the Derby Telegraph: "I'm really enjoying my football, it is good for me to get games under my belt.
"When the manager brought me in, he said I was here to play and get my fitness back. That is perfect for me and it's great that the team are playing so well at the moment.
"It is always nice when a manager puts a lot of faith in you and I've just got to keep repaying him, keep playing my football and, hopefully, Derby will keep winning games."
