Middlesbrough have bolstered their strike force with transfer deadline day arrivals of Celtic striker Scott McDonald and Aberdeen's Lee Miller.

Boro had funds to spend on strengthening their attack following the sale of highly-rated winger Adam Johnson to Manchester City on Monday.

Australian striker McDonald is believed to have cost the North East side around £3.5milllion while Miller, who was out of contract in the summer, cost in the region of £500,000.

It remains to be seen how long the pair have signed on for under Gordon Strachan, although the pair should make their Boro debut's against Ipswich this weekend.

Meanwhile, young midfielder Nathan Porritt has left Middlesbrough after having his Riverside Stadium contract cancelled by mutual consent.
