Sky Sports News understands that Aruna Dindane will not be joining Blackburn Rovers because talks have broken down at Ewood Park.
The Ivory Coast international spent the first half of the season on loan at Portsmouth but Rovers boss Sam Allardyce was believed to be interested in a permanent deal with the player's parent club, Lens.
Birmingham City were also interested in Dindane, however, manager Alex McLeish revealed over the weekend that discussions with Lens had hit a brick wall.
The same now appears to have happened with Rovers and with the winter transfer deadline having passed it would seem that the striker will not be moving to the North West.
A collapse in Dindane's move is also understood to have scuppered Maceo Rigters' loan to Kilmarnock.
Allardyce allowed Benni McCarthy to join West Ham earlier on Monday and he is not prepared to confirm other departures without sufficient cover in attack.
