Newcastle have swooped to sign young Chelsea defender Patrick van Aanholt on loan for one month.
The 19-year-old left-back began his career at PSV Eindhoven before moving to Stamford Bridge, and he joins the Magpies as cover for the injured Jose Enrique.
Enrique faces several weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring problem and Van Aanholt is expected to step into the breach in defence.
The Holland Under-21 international spent the first half of the season on loan at Coventry and is available for Newcastle's game against Leicester in the Championship on Saturday.
Chris Hughton is pleased to have secured the Dutchman on a short-term deal, and admits he was impressed by him when his side played Coventry earlier in the campaign.
"I certainly liked what I saw that night," he told the club's official website.
"I've also heard a lot of good things about him and he is a player who is very highly thought of at Chelsea.
"The move was, of course, a reaction to Jose Enrique's injury but we're very excited about having Patrick with us.
"He will give us energy and it's a good chance to have a look at him over the next month."
Van Aanholt is joined by fellow loan signing Fitz Hall at St James' Park, who also moved on Friday.
