Colchester United boss Aidy Boothroyd intends to sign Leeds United midfielder David Prutton on a permanent basis.
Prutton joined the Us on a one-month loan deal earlier in the week after struggling for first-team football at Leeds this season.
He marked his debut by coming off the bench to score in Tuesday's 2-0 win over MK Dons and Boothroyd is keen to keep the 28-year-old.
Boothroyd said: "The plan is to make it permanent. He's a very good player, he's been there and done it.
"In a team that's growing we've got to have people in the dressing room and out on the pitch who can lead."
