Walter Smith has confirmed that John Fleck has not rejected Rangers' contract offer and that talks have restarted.

It had been thought that the youngster turned down the chance to extend his Ibrox stay and was considering a move to England.

However, Fleck shares the same agent with team-mate Danny Wilson and it was just the defender who turned down the club's offer.

Smith has now revealed that Fleck talks have restarted, although he has confirmed that Wilson's situation remains unchanged.

"The players have the same agent and we have found out in John's case that there has been a slight misunderstanding between the representative and the club," he told the club's official website.

"John wasn't fully aware his agent was negotiating a contract and the negative press was a little hard on him.

"It was reported he had turned down the contract when he actually hadn't, so negotiations are now taking place.

"Danny's situation remains the same but John is getting an opportunity to play and we are delighted with him, so hopefully something can happen."
