Jay Bothroyd insists he will not be leaving Cardiff City for Swansea City after admitting it is 'embarrassing' to be linked with a move to the club's fierce rivals.
Swansea have confirmed making an enquiry for the striker only to be deterred by a reported asking price of £3million.
And Bothroyd, who recently admitted to being flattered to be linked with a move to Aston Villa, says he has no intention of heading to the Liberty Stadium.
"You can write that story off.," Bothroyd told the club's official website. "I won't be going there.
"It's embarrassing. I'm happy at Cardiff."
Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale believes Swansea's interest was more a case of mischief making rather than a serious attempt to sign Bothroyd.
Ridsdale said: "On the basis that I have had no contact whatsoever with Swansea, I can only assume the call was made more out of mischief than with serious intent.
"However, to save them the trouble of making any more wasted calls, I can say that we have no intention of selling any of our players to Swansea."
