Strachan lets on-trial pair leave the club

Middlesbrough manager Gordon Strachan has confirmed that the club have not offered deals to Nicky Weaver or Dominique Kivuvu. The pair have recently had trials at the Riverside Stadium but will not be joining the Championship side. Former Manchester City goalkeeper Weaver and NEC Nijmegen midfielder Kivuvu have not been given contracts by Strachan, who signed Barry Robson, Willo Flood and Chris Killen last week. He told Boro's official website: "They aren't here any more - they weren't here after Tuesday." Strachan continues to work hard behind the scenes on his remaining targets, although he would not be drawn on speculation linking Gary O'Neil and Adam Johnson with moves away. The duo have been linked with transfers away from Teesside but Strachan would give nothing away. He added: "There's a lot of hard work going on, but unless they are completed, anything can happen, as we have seen at this club before."
