Shrewsbury have signed Huddersfield left-back Joe Skarz on loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old moves to the Prostar Stadium to cover the loss of injured centre-half Graham Coughlan, with regular left-back Shane Cansdell-Sherriff able to play in central defence.
Skarz, who has started 14 games for the Terriers in League One this term, has lost out at the Galpharm to full-back Robbie Williams in recent weeks, and Shrews manager Paul Simpson is pleased with the move.
"He is a recognised left-back and has played over 60 games at a higher level and will be a good addition to the squad," he told the club's official website.
"The thing that pleased with me with Joe is that he had options to go elsewhere, including a League One club, but he said no and jumped at the opportunity to come here.
"That is the enthusiasm and determination I want from players who want to come to this club and hopefully we will get some more."
Skarz goes straight into the squad for Shrewsbury's game against fellow promotion hopefuls Dagenham on Saturday.
