Inter Milan have insisted they will not be doing any more transfer business this month.
The Nerazzurri signed Goran Pandev from Lazio earlier in January and had also hoped to bring in Roma's Brazilian forward Julio Baptista.
The two clubs could not reach an agreement but Inter have decided against turning their attention to other potential targets.
Inter are also happy with their midfield options despite losing Patrick Vieira to Manchester City and will not try and recruit Lazio's Cristian Ledesma.
Speaking about Baptista, Inter president Massimo Moratti said: "Roma have taken a decision and we respect it.
"Inter's transfer market is closed.
"We are not monitoring Ledesma or any other player who is not already at Inter."
