Blackpool chief explains how situation came about

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has denied claims from Rotherham United that he has made a bid for Nicky Law. Rotherham revealed over the weekend that an offer for Laws in the region of £150,000 from Blackpool had been turned down. However, Holloway says he has not tried to sign the former Sheffield United youngster and has explained how the story came about. "We haven't bid for Nicky Law," Holloway told the Blackpool Gazette. "I asked some questions, but to say we've bid is rubbish. "I spoke to an agent. I told him that everyone in this country was costing a fortune and I jokingly said to him 'I bet £150,000 wouldn't get Nicky Law'. He tried. I didn't ask him to. "I have had no contact with Rotherham or Ronnie Moore at all and it came back as 'no way'. "I was interested in finding out if a player in this country was going to cost all sorts of ridiculous money. "Rotherham will find out from me direct if I am interested in one of their players and if I actually make them an offer. Ronnie Moore would be the first one I called."
