Hamburg chairman Bernd Hoffmann insists the club are yet to receive a bid for reported Sunderland target Guy Demel.
The defender announced that the Black Cats were interested in his services last week and admitted that Hamburg could expect a bid in the near future.
The 28-year-old, currently at the African Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast, is also thought to have attracted the attention of Italian giants AC Milan.
Sunderland are currently struggling for numbers at the back with Nyron Nosworthy (knee), John Mensah (calf) and Anton Ferdinand (ankle) all injured, but Hoffmann insists there has been no approach for Demel.
"It has been in the news that there is an interest of a club from England in the services of Guy Demel," he said.
"There has, however, not been any bid for him coming in. Looking at the current fact, Guy Demel is still part of our Bundesliga squad."
