Roberto Martinez has been reminded of Lionel Messi by the recent performances of Charles N'Zogbia.
The Wigan winger has been in sparkling form of late and was again the star of the show in Saturday's crucial 2-0 victory at Wolves.
The goal he scored to seal the win was particularly impressive as he picked up the ball on the right wing and cut inside before finishing with aplomb.
Manager Martinez is excited by the potential of the 23-year-old Frenchman and has even likened him to Barcelona's Messi.
N'Zogbia is yet to establish himself as a global superstar in the same way as Messi but the two players have similar styles, as they are the same height and enjoy running at opponents.
"The way Charlie plays, he has such an electric left foot," Martinez said in the Daily Mail.
"Messi can go both ways, and he's got a great finish. Low balance. The way he covers the ground, the way he works. It makes him a special player.
"Charlie knows he can go as high as he wants. He has gone on to a different level but I feel he can improve a lot still."
