Skysports.com understands that Peterborough United have bolstered their defensive options after bagging Arsenal's Kerrea Gilbert on loan.
Posh were on the lookout for defensive reinforcements after Birmingham recalled Krystian Pearce, who had been on a season-long loan.
Peterborough attempted to sign Southend's Simon Francis, but he rejected a move to the Championship side.
United manager Mark Cooper is determined to help keep the side up and has now moved to sign Gilbert, who is out of contract in the summer.
Gilbert is well down the pecking order under Arsene Wenger at Arsenal and will join Peterborough for the remainder of the season.
