Defender rules out transfer away from St James' Park

Newcastle defender Jose Enrique has pledged his future to the club and insists he has no problems fighting for his place in the side. Enrique has been one of Newcastle's top performers this term after a difficult debut campaign in England last season. The Spaniard has been linked with a move to fierce rivals Sunderland in the transfer window, but Enrique is happy to stay at St James' Park. Newcastle are thought to be in the market for defensive reinforcements in this month's transfer window and Enrique has no problem that any new arrivals could threaten his spot in the team. "When I first arrived I needed to get stronger and fitter. It was hard for me at first, but now I feel good," Enrique told the Daily Express. "It took me a bit of time to get used to the style of football here, but I am very happy in England and very happy playing for Newcastle. "I know the club want to sign another full-back and I understand that as it is a risk to only have one."
