Skysports.com understands Southampton are closing in on the signing of Exeter defender Dan Seaborne.
Seaborne, who is out contract in the summer rejected a new contract at City at the end of the last year as he kept his options open.
The versatile defender has come through the ranks at St James Park, making his debut for the Grecians in 2006.
The 22-year-old has impressed at Exeter over the last few seasons and his performances have attracted interest from other clubs.
Norwich saw several offers rejected for Seaborne during the last transfer window and it appears Southampton have stolen a march on their rivals by lining up a deal to take the player to St Mary's.
If Seaborne makes the move to Southampton he will become Alan Pardew's second defensive signing of this month's transfer window following the arrival of Jose Fonte from Crystal Palace.
