Birmingham City have completed the signing of Sporting Gijon midfielder Michel for £3million.
The 24-year-old, who has been a long-term target for Blues, has signed a two-and-a-half year contract at St Andrews.
Michel came through the club's ranks and made 138 appearances for the La Liga side after breaking into the first team in the 2005/06 season.
The clubs had agreed a fee and the Blues had negotiated personal terms with the player last week, with the move being finalised after he passed his medical.
Blues boss Alex McLeish believes Michel is the right age to play in England's top flight and believes his exquisite first touch will set him apart.
"Michel is in a great age group and has got good legs and a lovely touch on the ball as you would imagine from a Spanish player performing at La Liga level," McLeish told the club's official website.
