Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed new-boy Mame Biram Diouf, believing the striker will bring something different to the Manchester United side.

The 22-year-old Senegal striker signed from Molde in the summer but stayed in Norway until December when he joined the Red Devils on a full-time basis.

He could make his debut in United's game at Birmingham on Saturday and Ferguson has praised the way the youngster has settled in at Old Trafford.

He said: "In training he has done very well.

"He is quick and has magnificent spring in the air for someone of 5ft 10in.

Good intelligence

"He has a good intelligence and a good feel for the game.

"He has attributes that are suited to us. He is a bit different to what we have at the moment and we have done well to get the kid."

Ferguson has no worries about throwing Diouf into the fray at St Andrews on Saturday.

The United boss added: "We are looking to involve Diouf at Birmingham.

"It is a good time to do it and he may just do well straight away."
