Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic will be sidelined for 10 days after tweaking a nerve in his leg.
The Serbian centre-half pulled out of the warm-up against Leeds last Sunday and missed the 1-0 shock defeat in the FA Cup at Old Trafford.
Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson previously claimed that he knew nothing about Vidic's injury, but now confirmed he has seen a specialist.
"He felt a bit of a problem with the right side of his leg and didn't feel confident about playing the game," he said.
"I understand that because it was quite painful.
"We sent him to a specialist on Wednesday and the problem will be solved by some exercises we are going to have to give him now.
"He should be back in about 10 days' time."
Vidic will therefore be missing for United's trip to Birmingham in the Premier League on Saturday, as they look to bounce back from the defeat to Leeds.
It has been an eventful week for the 28-year-old stopper, with speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid following a reported bust-up with Ferguson.
However, Vidic flatly denied that there has been any row with his manager and insisted he is happy at Old Trafford.
