Cardiff starlet Adam Matthews has admitted he is flattered to be linked with moves to Manchester United and Arsenal.

Bluebirds chairman Peter Ridsdale admitted earlier this month the Premier League pair were interested in signing highly-rated defender Matthews.

The 17-year-old is regarded as one of the best young talents outside the top flight and he is tipped for a big future in the game.

Cardiff have brought through the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Chris Gunter and Joe Ledley in recent years and Matthews is the latest to come through the ranks.

Arsenal and United are both expected to fight it out for Matthews' signature in this month's transfer window and the young full-back admits he would have seriously think about a move if either club firmed up their interest.

"It's all very flattering and if an offer ever came about then I'd have to think about it," Matthews told the Daily Mirror.
