Sporting Gijon have announced that Michel is on his way to England to finalise his move to Birmingham City.
The Spanish side confirmed on their official website that everything had now been agreed over the move and it should be finalised in the next 48 hours.
The two clubs agreed a deal worth around £3million earlier this week for the midfielder, but they had to thrash out the payment method.
Now the two clubs have concluded their talks and Michel is ready to jet to England in the next 24 hours to put pen-to-paper with The Blues.
Michel, 24, will now become Birmingham's first signing of the transfer window and will end a long chase for Alex McLeish - who first moved for the player last summer.
