Portsmouth forward John Utaka has admitted that he is talks with Ligue 1 outfit Sochaux.

Reports in France suggest the Nigeria international could be heading to Montbeliard on a six-month loan deal.

That would keep him on the continent until the end of the season and allow him the opportunity to chase his World Cup dream.

Utaka admits this summer's showpiece in South Africa is weighing on his mind, and feels he needs to leave Fratton Park in order to find the regular first-team football he craves.

"I am in talks, that is true," the 27-year-old told skysports.com.

"I am not playing at Portsmouth and there is a World Cup coming up in June - I don't want to miss that.

"If they (Sochaux) can give me playing time, I will be on the next plane over because I really need that.

"Hopefully everything will be sorted out quickly so I can focus on my football."
