Peterborough are looking to beat Hearts to the signing of Izale McLeod, skysports.com understands.
The 25-year-old Charlton striker had been in talks with the SPL outfit and their boss Csaba Laszlo has been pressing to try and seal a deal.
But Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov has questioned the need for McLeod and the player had warned he had other options.
Now it can be confirmed that Peterborough are ready to make a move for McLeod and sign him on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent deal.
McLeod's agent Tony Finnigan confirmed that his charge was wanted at London Road.
"I can confirm that Peterborough want Izale," he told skysports.com.
"He would be more than happy to go there and we are now waiting for the clubs to agree terms."
