Nick Blackman has returned to parent club Blackburn after spending the first half of the season on loan at Oldham.
The League One strugglers mainly used the young striker off the substitutes' bench, with Blackman making his final appearance in Saturday's 2-1 reverse at Hartlepool.
Blackman arrived at Boundary Park on 20th August and was joined a week later by Rovers team-mate Alex Marrow, who has agreed to stay at Oldham until the end of the season.
Latics boss Dave Penney has thanked Blackman for his efforts in what has been a difficult season for the club to date.
"Hopefully he goes back to Blackburn a better player and we want to thank Sam Allardyce and Neil McDonald for allowing both Nick and Alex to be with us this season," he told the club's official website.
