Sheffield Wednesday remain in talks with Derby about bringing Luke Varney back to Hillsborough.
The 27-year-old, who returned to Pride Park this week, has had two loan spells with the Owls, spending a month at Hillsborough at the end of last season and the first four months of the current campaign.
Derby manager Nigel Clough admits he is waiting to see if Wednesday want to take Varney back to South Yorkshire.
"Luke's loan is up and he is back with us at the moment, although he is suspended for Saturday," Clough told the club's official website.
"We're still in discussions with Sheffield Wednesday about what they want to do with Luke in terms of extending the loan or a permanent deal, so at the moment it's a case of seeing what comes up in the next few weeks."
