Skysports.com understands Brighton are chasing Hartlepool winger Andy Monkhouse.
Brighton boss Gus Poyet is keen to bolster his squad in the January transfer window and has identified Monkhouse as one of his top targets.
Monkhouse has established himself as a key player at Hartlepool since his arrival from Swindon in 2007 after a successful loan spell at Victoria Park.
The 29-year-old has enjoyed a fine season to date scoring seven goals for Pools.
Poyet is believed to be a big admirer of Monkhouse and is keen to add to his attacking options at the Withdean Stadium as they look to climb clear of trouble at the wrong end of League One.
