Burnley have dismissed claims from Yazid Mansouri that they are close to reaching an agreement.
The Lorient midfielder was reported in an Algerian newspaper as being in discussions with the Premier League outfit.
The 31-year-old claimed initial talks had been positive and all that was left to agree was a fee.
However, Burnley insist they have made no contact with the Algeria captain and have no plans to bring him on board in January.
"Burnley Football Club can confirm that club officials are not in talks with Algerian midfielder Yazid Mansouri," read a statement on the club's official website.
"Burnley Football Club have not entered into any negotiations."
