Manchester United defender Patrice Evra is targeting maximum points over the festive period after losing two of their last three games.

The Red Devils have lost ground in the title race recently following defeats to Aston Villa and Fulham, although their defensive crisis has done little to aid their cause.

While Sir Alex Ferguson's men beat an under-strength Wolves side in their last home match, their weekend defeat at Craven Cottage saw Chelsea extend their lead at the top by a point.

United tackle struggling Hull City at the KC Stadium on Sunday before welcoming Wigan to Old Trafford, games that Evra insists they must take maximum points from.

"It's a crucial time," explained Evra.

Victories

"We lost against Aston Villa and Fulham but the target is to win every game we can from now on.

"We always do well in this period and now, more than ever, we need victories."

Evra has been the only senior defender in a decimated back-line of late and has been doing his best to pass on his experience to the likes of midfielder Michael Carrick and the inexperienced Ritchie De Laet.

"I try to give experience at the back and make sure we all speak to each other," he continued.

"It's not easy but we have a strong squad, and you have to be able to play anywhere to win the title."
