Sampson praises on-loan full-back's consistency

Northampton Town have agreed a deal to extend the loan of Middlesbrough full-back John Johnson until the end of the season. Johnson has made 14 appearances since joining the Cobblers in September, but his current deal is due to expire after the Boxing Day game against Dagenham & Redbridge. However, Northampton boss Ian Sampson has negotiated a deal to hang on to the 21-year-old and has praised Johnson's consistency for the club. "We've agreed to extend his loan until the end of the season and that's going to be a boost for us," Sampson told the Northampton Chronicle & Echo. "He's a very good player to have around the team, he's very solid and dependable. "He's one of those lads who you know will give you at least seven out of 10 every week and it's all been agreed for him to stay for the rest of the season."
