Watford manager Malky Mackay believes goalkeeper Scott Loach should at least finish the season at Vicarage Road.
Loach has produced some impressive performances for the Hornets this season and has been linked with a move to the Premier League in January.
Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be admirers of the England Under 21 international, who recently admitted he would consider a switch to White Hart Lane.
Mackay accepts the 21-year-old, who has made 60 appearances for the club, will eventually make the step up to a higher level.
However, the Hornets chief wants the promising shot-stopper to gain more first-team experience in the Championship with Watford.
"Scott will move to a big club, but I don't want to lose him yet," said Mackay.
"Another year here will do him a lot more good than sitting on a Premier League bench."
