Doncaster chairman John Ryan has confirmed his intention to keep Billy Sharp at the club on a permanent basis.
The striker, who arrived from neighbours Sheffield United on a season-long loan on 1st September, has been in prolific form after bagging eight goals in his last seven matches.
Ryan admits he has been highly-impressed with the 23-year-old's performances since joining the club and is eager for the partnership to continue beyond this season.
He told the Doncaster Free Press: "There's not a lot I can say on the subject really, other than, as a fan myself, I would love to see him here on a permanent basis.
"As far as I'm aware Billy has said he would like to see out his loan spell at the club until the end of the season because he's enjoying it so much and will make a decision about his future then.
"He still has another year left on his contract at Sheffield United after this season, but if he does become available in the summer, we will certainly be throwing our hat into the ring.
"All I can say is we will be doing our best."
