West Brom midfielder Robert Koren faces a spell on the sidelines after undergoing a hernia operation.
The Slovenian has been struggling with the problem for a while and the club decided to send him under the knife.
Koren is likely to be sidelined for up to a month meaning he is set to miss the busy festive period.
The midfielder missed Saturday's win over Sheffield Wednesday and Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo confirmed the need for surgery.
"Robert will need an op," said Di Matteo. "He's got a hernia in his groin area and he'll be out for three to four weeks."
