Middlesbrough defender Emanuel Pogatetz admits he was a 'little bit embarrassed' after requiring stitches in a head injury at the weekend.
Pogatetz has endured an injury-hit season to date and marked his first appearance of the campaign against Plymouth Argyle last month by fracturing his cheekbone.
The Austrian was given permission to wear a protective mask for his comeback against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, only to then suffer a bang to the head.
Though Pogatetz was able to play the full 90 minutes of the 1-1 draw, he was frustrated to require treatment on another injury.
"At the moment I feel like every time I get hit I start bleeding," said Pogatetz.
"To be honest, I am a little bit embarrassed that I had to go off again for stitches.
"Hopefully, it's just a bad spell and it will be over soon.
"The lads have been giving me a bit of stick, saying I should cover myself in Vaseline before I go on to the pitch.
"I was just happy that this time I was able to carry on and come back on. I had seven or eight stitches this time."
