Youngster hopes to gain fitness and overcome injury

Grimsby have signed Barnsley striker Michael Coulson on an initial one-month loan deal. The 21-year-old Tykes forward returned to Oakwell earlier in the week after a spell at non-league side Chester, and now moves to a Grimsby outfit who are stuck in the lower echelons of League Two. Coulson began his career at Scarborough, scoring nine goals at the McCain Stadium in 41 first team appearances after making his debut at 16, before playing 25 games with Barnsley. The promising attacker has recently recovered from successive cruciate knee ligament injuries and will be hoping to stay clear of further problems as he looks to boost his fitness at Blundell Park. Coulson goes straight into the Mariners squad for Grimsby's next game against Lincoln on Saturday at Sincil Bank.
