Argentinean explains muted celebration

Newcastle winger Jonas Gutierrez insists that he wants to remain at the club and get them back in the Premier League. The 26-year-old Argentina international scored a fantastic goal in the Magpies' 3-1 win over Peterborough on Saturday, but did not celebrate in his usual fashion by donning a Spiderman mask. Gutierrez claimed he was unhappy with reports linking him with a move to Italian side Roma, and revealed the muted celebration was in protest to the rumours. "I left it (the mask) in the changing room because I have read something in the newspapers that I didn't like about me, that I want to leave Newcastle, so I didn't want to celebrate because it's not true," he said. "I am happy at Newcastle and I want to be here next year. I want to be here next year in the Premier League and nothing else. "I have wanted to score since I came here, so I am very happy about that. It's my first one and now I will try to score more in the rest of the season." Newcastle remain top of the Championship after the win over the Posh, with their next game coming against Preston after the international break.
