Benfica ace happy to commit long-term future

Benfica defender Luisao has signed a new contract that binds him to the Portuguese giants until 2013. The giant Brazilian had been locked in negotiations with his employers for some time but has now struck an accord. Luisao's previous deal was set to expire in 2011 but having established himself in Brazil coach Dunga's plans, the talented centre-half can see no reason to quit Benfica. Confident that the future is bright at the Estádio da Luz, Luisao has set his heart on helping the club to major silverware. "I am happy with this accord because my objective has always been to continue with Benfica," he said. "I want to make history with this club and to help them obtain titles in the next few years. "Now I am in the Brazil squad and my work in Portugal was key to obtaining the confidence of coach Dunga."
