Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill was full of praise for goalkeeper Brad Guzan after his Carling Cup heroics.
The American international was man-of-the-match as Villa claimed a place in the last eight of the competition after a penalty shoot-out victory at Sunderland.
Guzan saved a penalty in normal time from Kenwyne Jones before he stopped three further spot-kicks in the shoot-out.
And O'Neill admits Guzan is unfortunate to find himself behind fellow countryman Brad Friedel.
"There is no question Guzan is a quality goalkeeper," O'Neill told Sky Sports News.
"This is no fluke and he is desperately unlucky not to be in the No.1 slot.
"He gave a fantastic performance and we are naturally delighted to have got through.
"He has been doing it for some time, I think he is a great keeper in the making.
"He has got everything and he is as brave as they come.
"He was immense in pre-season and that performance will elevate his confidence to new heights.
"You got the feeling that it would have to have been something special to beat him."
