Burnley have confirmed first-choice keeper Brian Jensen suffered slight ankle ligament damage in Saturday's 3-1 defeat by Wigan Athletic.
The Latics had been leading at Turf Moor but the visitors equalised in bizarre fashion when Jensen collapsed in a heap coming out for a through ball, allowing Hugo Rodallega to score easily.
Jensen hobbled off and was immediately replaced by Diego Penny, who was making just his second-ever league appearance for Owen Coyle's side.
Scans have now shown that Jensen suffered ankle ligament damage, although it remains unknown how long the experienced Danish shot-stopper will be on the sidelines.
Peruvian keeper Penny will be ready to fill in again should the 34-year-old Jensen be unavailable for the visit of Hull City on Saturday.
