Coventry are close to tying up a deal for AFC Wimbledon defender Chris Hussey after he passed a medical at the Ricoh Arena.
The left-back, 20, has been linked with a number of Championship clubs but is currently discussing personal terms with the Sky Blues with a view to being included in Chris Coleman's squad for Saturday's trip to Sheffield Wednesday.
Coventry have already agreed a nominal fee with the Dons for a promising player who is likely to be seen as a long-term replacement for Danny Fox after his summer switch to Celtic.
Coleman believes Hussey can make the step-up to Championship football.
"He just needs to believe in himself and believe he can compete at our level, because he can," said Coleman
"Once he gets his foot in the door, gets some appearances under his belt and gets used to it, he can be a good player.
"I'm looking forward to working with him and I think he's excited about coming here
"I'm expecting nothing major from him in his first six to 12 months. He's going to make mistakes and he'll have his bad games.
"He'll have his good games as well and we'll work hard with him. He's a good player. I'm looking forward to working with him and I think he's excited about coming here."
