Dundee United manager Craig Levein could offer a deal to trialist Jean-Hugues Ateba with Paul Dixon on the sidelines.
Dixon is currently on the treatment table again after injuring his knee earlier this month in the Terrors' 1-1 draw at Hibernian.
Although Dixon does not require surgery the left-back will still be unavailable to Levein for anywhere up to a month.
Former Nantes, PSG, and Chateauroux defender Ateba could be the beneficiary of a short-term deal as United's boss is pleased with his progress.
"It looks like Dixon will be back within four weeks but Ateba has impressed so far," explained Levein.
Meanwhile, midfielder Scott Robertson will find out on Tuesday if he needs more surgery after undergoing a scan on his groin.
