Gabriel Obertan will make his first start in a Manchester United shirt on Monday when the reserves take on Oldham in the Manchester Senior Cup.
The Frenchman has been a frustrated spectator since his £3million move from Bordeaux in the summer with a spine injury keeping him sidelined.
The problem has troubled the winger for some time but Red Devils officials are confident the issue has now been cleared up.
Brazilian full-back Rafael da Silva will also start against the Latics at Blue Square North side Hyde United's Ewen Fields.
The 19-year-old has been not featured for the first-team this season having undergone shoulder surgery in the summer and he will join twin brother Fabio in the defence on Monday.
