Jonas Olsson believes the international break came at just the right time for West Brom.
The Baggies have seen their form dip over recent weeks ever since recording an excellent 5-0 win at Middlesbrough last month.
After the win at the Riverside, Roberto Di Matteo's men have lost 1-0 at home to Crystal Palace and 3-1 at Barnsley before drawing 0-0 with Preston last time out.
The run of results has seen Newcastle overtake West Brom at the top of the Championship but Olsson believes the Baggies will come back stronger after the two-week international break.
"There are a lot of games in the Championship and this month has been very intense for us," he told the club's official website.
"We've been playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday every week and I think everyone feels you need to take a good rest.
"If you've seen us over the last few weeks, apart from our draw at Preston, I think we've been struggling a bit.
"This is a good time to regroup and reflect on how far we've come."
