Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo has been called up to the Spain squad to face Armenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The uncapped 24-year-old has been given the nod by Spain coach Vincente del Bosque after forwards David Villa and Daniel Guiza suffered injuries.
Negredo, who joined Sevilla from Real Madrid in August for a reported €15million, is hoping he can take the opportunity to prove his worth.
"For me it is big news," he said. "I am happy but it is necessary now to work hard and take my chance.
"It is not easy to be an international forward for Spain because of the quality of our attacking line."
Spain, who have already secured top spot in Group Five and a place in the finals in South Africa, take on Armenia in Yerevan on October 10th and second-placed Bosnia in Zenica four days later.
